Message from Police Chief Timothy P. Hayworth

Thank you for your time and I hope that you will move through the Zebulon Police Department’s pages and see the wonderful things happening within our department.

The members of the Zebulon Police Department are very proud of our town and of our department. Our core values and community policing philosophy are examples of our determination to work with the citizens, business members, faith community and visitors to make Zebulon a safe place to live, work, shop and visit.

The members of the Zebulon Police Department work hard to be a very professional agency in every way. Our officers are trained to be fair, ethical, and experts in their field. Currently, the Police Department is divided into three bureaus: Administration, Patrol and Service.

The Administration Bureau is made up of the Chief, Captain, two Lieutenants, and an Administrative Assistant. This Bureau is responsible for the overall management of the police department including hiring, policy, budget, purchasing, personnel management, information technology and direction for future growth and development.

The Patrol Bureau is commanded by a Lieutenant and is supervised by four Sergeants who lead the four Patrol Squads. The Police K-9 program, Bicycle Unit, Traffic Unit, and the Part-time/Reserve officers are also within this bureau.

The Service Bureau is commanded by a Lieutenant who manages departmental functions such as: evidence, recruiting and background investigations, crime prevention programs, training, equipment and uniform control, vehicle maintenance, and the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT). The Detective Division also falls within this bureau and is supervised by a Detective Sergeant.

It is our hope that you enjoy the site and that most importantly, if you are ever in need of our services, we will be able to provide you with the most efficient and helpful response possible.....
