ZEBULON, N.C., July 21, 2026 — The Town of Zebulon takes the State Auditor’s findings seriously and has already implemented improvements in several areas identified in the report. Additional improvements are in progress.

To help keep residents informed, the Town has launched a new Progress Dashboard that provides a central place to track organizational improvements, key initiatives and the Town’s progress over time.

The dashboard was developed as part of the Town’s broader commitment to transparency and continuous improvement. Feedback from residents, employees and community stakeholders, including conversations during staff town hall meetings, the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 budget planning process and other engagement efforts, highlighted the need for a clear way to share updates and provide greater visibility into the Town’s work.

Many of the initiatives reflected on the dashboard Town leaders proactively initiated earlier this year as part of the Town’s efforts to strengthen operations. The State Auditor’s report has helped further inform and prioritize additional improvements.

The dashboard includes actions already completed, current initiatives and next steps involving internal procedures, documentation, records management and financial oversight.

“Since February, we have been working to strengthen internal processes and improve how the Town operates,” Town Manager Catherine Crosby said. “We also heard from residents, employees and other stakeholders that they wanted a clearer way to see that work. This dashboard gives the community one place to follow our progress.”

Some improvements have already been completed, while others will take additional time to review and implement. The dashboard will be updated as milestones are reached and new information becomes available.

The Town is also holding staff town hall meetings to share information, answer employee questions and discuss the work in progress.

“The work does not end with the release of a report,” Crosby said. “Improvement is an ongoing process, and we are committed to following through, strengthening our organization and keeping our community informed along the way.”

The Town will continue reviewing its policies, procedures and financial oversight practices, identifying additional improvements and sharing updates with the community through the dashboard.
