Personnel

The Zebulon Fire Department consists of three different types of personnel - volunteers, career, and junior firefighters.  Listed below are brief descriptions of each.

Volunteer

Our department has 20 volunteer members.  To be considered, you must be at least 18 years of age, have an acceptable criminal/driving record, have a diploma or GED, and meet minimum training requirements.  It is preferred that volunteer members live within 6 road miles of the fire station.  Follow the link below for a volunteer application, which can be returned to the station when completed.

Career

Our department has 21 full-time employees and maintains a roster of part-time employees to fill-in when our full-time employees are out for leave or attending classes.  To inquire if there any open career positions, please check the Town of Zebulon Employment page.

Junior Firefighters

In June, 2017, our department initiated a junior firefighter program.  The program is intended for young people to be a part of our organization through a mentored program, giving them the chance to experience what it is like to be in emergency services.  Many juniors go on to be career or volunteer emergency service workers.  To be considered, young men and women who have completed the 8th grade and at least 14 years old must complete an application and return it to the station.
