FLEET MECHANIC – Town of Zebulon (pop. 5268) - Under general supervision of the Public Works Operations Manager. Perform a wide variety of diagnoses, repairs and preventative maintenance on vehicles, heavy construction equipment, turf equipment, tractors, trailers, generators and other small equipment.  This would include electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, welding and fabrication, and fuel station maintenance. PLANNING DIRECTOR - The Town of Zebulon operates under a Council/Manager form of government.  With 66 employees, Planning is one of seven (7) departments reporting to the Town Manager.  The Planning Department consists of five (5) full-time staff with an operating budget of approximately $450,000 and a capital budget of $350,000.   The Planning Department has a strategic focus to oversee and encourage growth in Zebulon. The next Director will be expected to incorporate creativity and best practices in growth management and sustainability, land use planning, building permits, zoning, and code enforcement.  The ideal candidate must exhibit the initiative to promote sound growth and development, preserving traditional small-town values, and balancing the needs of a diverse citizenry in a changing economic landscape. Minimum Qualifications:  A bachelor’s degree in urban planning, architecture, public administration, business administration or closely related field is required while a master’s degree is preferred.  A minimum of six to eight years progressively more responsible planning and supervisory experience is required. Knowledge of building and zoning code administration and enforcement preferred. AICP certification is required or ability to obtain within a negotiated time frame after employment. A valid NC State Driver’s License is required.
