PLANNER II - Full-Time - The Planning Department is looking for an experienced, energetic, hardworking person that can think outside the box. This person can use creative ways of addressing issues but stays withing the parameters of the UDO and Town Ordinance. The department works well as a team and wants to find that person that is a team player willing to work to make the department successful by meeting the needs of the customer.  This position works under the direct supervision of the Senior Planner doing research, making presentations, working with Planner I with GIS and working with developers and customers.

There is up to a $3,000 signing bonus for the right person.

Salary Range: $50,464 - $75,694

SEASONAL MOWING -  Seasonal position is scheduled to work hours from 7am – 4pm every Monday – Friday from May – September.  The nature of this work will require staff to work outside in various environmental conditions for extended periods of time. Duties may require one to sit, stand, stoop, bend, lift and reach. Must be at least 16 years of age when applying.

Pay $11 - $15 per hour - Starting salary based on qualifications.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR - SPECIAL EVENTS - Full-Time - This is an exciting position that will plan, coordinate and promote community wide special events. They will play in integral part in planning events that will serve all parts of our community including the small children to the senior adults, and various ethnic groups. This is a new position for the Town and it will be exciting to see what the right person brings to the Parks & Recreation Team. They will be under the supervision of the Recreation Manager.

PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER - Part-Time - Zebulon Parks and Recreation has seven parks that they maintain. The Parks Department is looking for a hardworking person to be a part of a dedicated group of people that enjoys their work and the people they work with. If you are a hardworking person that loves working outdoors and wants to join a great group of people this is the perfect position for you.  Parks Maintenance Workers assist Parks and Recreation staff with various park maintenance tasks and is expected to perform a variety of landscape maintenance, janitorial and custodial duties. This position is subject to working in all types of weather conditions. This position will report to the Parks Maintenance Supervisor.

Hourly wage: $11.00 - $15.00

 INSTRUCTORS - Part-Time - Needed to broaden and expand our program offerings and hire enthusiastic, hard-working instructors who offer unique programming opportunities to our community. Instructors are responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting instructional lessons for classes presented to infants/parents, preschoolers, youth, and adults.  Currently, we are interested in working with instructors for the following areas, but we remain open to suggestions and presentations of other types of classes: 

  •  Arts & Crafts 
  • Cake/Cookie Decorating
  • Culinary
  • Educational & Life Skills
  • Floral Design
  • Other

Instructors do not need to have experience in all areas. Instructors for these programs teach or instruct a variety of activities which may include active games, music,  arts and crafts, cooking, and various other educational, and cultural enrichment areas. In addition, instructors may be required to develop course objectives, class plans, obtain necessary supplies and equipment, as well as work with ZPRD staff to schedule class times.  A high level of independent judgment is necessary.  

Hourly wage: $20.00 - $45.00

RECREATION AIDE - ATHLETICS - Part-Time -This position performs routine work such as locking and unlocking facilities for athletic practices and games; acting as first point of contact for the general public while at the facility, and scorekeeping for youth and adult sports leagues and tournaments. This position may also be required to assist with other Town programs and events, as needed.

Hourly wage: $10.00 - $15.00
