Retrieving Evidence / Property Being Held at the Station

 

  • You can reclaim lost/found or items used in an investigation from the Zebulon Police Department.
  • If your item(s) were part of an investigation, they must first be cleared for release by the investigating officer or detective as well as the court.
  • You have 60 days to pick up your items once they are released or they will be forfeited.

Monday - Friday  9:00 AM - 12:00 PM & 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

 Closed Saturday and Sunday and Town holidays.

Retrieve property used in an investigation:

Call us ahead of time

1. Before you call:

  • You will need your case number.  This number will always begin with the year the incident occurred (e.g. 17-1234)
  • You will need the name of the officer or detective handling your case. 
  • If you don’t have your case number or officer name, call the records unit at (919) 823-1818.

2. Call (919) 823-1818 and ask to speak with Evidence personnel.

3. Confirm that your items have been released by the investigating officer or by the court.

Pick up your items

1. Make sure you bring:

  • Valid, government issued personal photo identification.
  • Your case number.         
  • Any additional paperwork that was given to you (notification card, letter, etc.

Retrieve lost/found/stolen property:

Call to see if we have your property:

1. Call (919) 823-1818  and ask to speak with a Detective.

Pick up your item(s):

1. Bring valid, government issued personal photo identification to the office.

Retrieve a firearm:

1. Before you call:

  • You will need your case number.  This number will always begin with the year the incident occurred (e.g. 17-1234)
  • You will need the name of the officer or detective handling your case. 
  • If you don’t have your case number or officer name, call the records unit at (919) 823-1818.

2.  Call (919) 823-1818 and ask to speak with Evidence personnel.
3.  You will be asked to bring to the office a document from the court stating that the firearm can be released (AOC-CR-218).

4. We will check the status of the case to ensure that it has been adjudicated and the firearm will be returned.
