Trash and Recycling Services

Town of Zebulon contracts with Waste Industries to collect residential and light commercial trash and recycling.  The monthly fee of $19.25 includes one 96-gallon trash cart and one 96-gallon recycling cart.  Town ordinance requires trash be bagged before being placed in the cart.  This prevents flyaway litter as the cart is emptied into the truck.  Residents are responsible for keeping their carts clean.  Please do not bag your recycling items.  Recycling should be placed loosely in the cart for sorting at the recycling facility.

Trash is collected weekly on Mondays.  Please place your cart at the curb on Sunday night.  Recycling is collected bi-weekly.  Refer to the calendar sticker on your trash cart for trash-only and recycling dates.

The following items should not be placed in the trash cart:

  • yard waste
  • tires
  • construction debris
  • automobile fluids
  • fluorescent light bulbs
  • batteries
  • lighter fluid/kerosene
  • paints/lacquers/polishes
  • pesticides/herbicide

Public Works collects yardwaste and leaves separately from trash. To dispose of other items, please visit wakegov.com/recycling for drop-off locations.

For questions or concerns about trash and recycling collection, replacement of broken carts, or to have carts delivered to a new residence, please call Public Works at 919-269-5285.
