Yardwaste Collection

Public Works collects yardwaste and leaves biweekly from residential properties.  The town is divided into two zones, and we service each zone every other week.  Yardwaste should be placed on the right-of-way behind the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday of the week your zone is scheduled for pick-up.   Please refer to the 2019 Yardwaste Calendar and Map to determine your collection weeks.

Acceptable yardwaste includes:

  • Twigs and limbs
  • Hedge clippings
  • Grass
  • Hay/pine straw
  • Pine cones
  • Small logs
  • Bushes

Yardwaste should be placed loosely behind the curb away from parked cars, trees, shrubs, mailboxes, utility boxes, and power lines.  Please do not bag yard waste.

Do not mix the following items in the yardwaste:

  • Animal waste
  • Trash
  • Mulch bags
  • Plastic trays
  • Building materials, fences, or poles
  • Dirt or rocks
  • Plants in pots

Leaf Collection

Leaves are collected the same week as yard waste and should be placed in a separate pile behind the curb, not in the street or gutter where they can obstruct traffic or drainage.  Leaf piles must be free of sticks, rocks, pine cones, limbs, and other debris.  The town's vacuum equipment is only designed to pick up loose leaves.  Your cooperation will help prevent mechanical breakdowns.  Like other yardwaste, leaf piles should be placed away from cars, mailboxes, utility boxes, trees, and shrubs.
