ZEBULON, N.C. (Jan. 14, 2026) – The Zebulon Police Department proudly welcomed two new officers during a recent swearing-in ceremony following their successful completion of the 79th Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) class at Nash Community College.

Officer Jorge Solis and Officer Tasman Mikell both graduated from the rigorous BLET program, which prepares law enforcement officers through extensive academic coursework, physical training, and practical instruction. Each officer completed 868 hours of Basic Law Enforcement Training to earn certification.

Officer Solis received the Top Score Award on the Police Officer Agility Test (POPAT), recognizing his exceptional physical performance and endurance. Officer Mikell earned the Overall Top Academic Average Award, achieving the highest cumulative academic score in the class.

“Officer Solis and Officer Mikell are both dedicated to community service and have successfully completed 868 hours of rigorous Basic Law Enforcement Training to become certified police officers,” said Chief Anthony Puckett. “Both officers bring maturity, life experience, and a strong commitment to serving others. They understand that great policing begins with strong relationships, and they will be a great asset to the Zebulon Police Department and outstanding community officers for the Town of Zebulon.”

The Town of Zebulon congratulates Officers Solis and Mikell and looks forward to the positive impact they will have as they begin their service to the Town of Friendly People.

The Zebulon Police Department is currently comprised of 31 sworn officers who serve and protect the community.
