Town of Zebulon Moves Forward with Gill Street Park Master Plan
ZEBULON, N.C. (Feb. 9, 2025) – The Zebulon Board of Commissioners adopted the Gill Street Park Master Plan, establishing a long-term, community-driven vision to expand recreation and improve park amenities near Zebulon Middle School and East Wake Academy.
The plan outlines expanded park space on town-owned land, an inclusive playground, walking trails and natural areas, a multi-sport court, skate park features, and space for a future community facility, restrooms, and improved parking. The master plan was shaped by community input gathered through both in-person and online engagement.
Jessica D. Harrison, mayor of the Town of Zebulon, said the plan reflects the Town’s commitment to thoughtful growth and quality of life. “Gill Street Park represents an investment in our residents, our youth, and our neighborhoods. This plan allows us to move forward in a responsible, phased way while continuing to listen to our community.”
“I am extremely excited for this project to progress connecting our community with intentional and impactful recreation,” said Sheila Long, director of the Town of Zebulon’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Implementation will occur in phases, allowing the Town to move into design, pursue grant funding and partnerships, and advance construction as funding becomes available.
The Gill Street Park Master Plan was recommended by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and adopted by the Zebulon Board of Commissioners.
Follow along as we move from planning to design and bring this community vision to life.
