Town of Zebulon Recommended for $2.16 Million Wake County Grant for Community Park

ZEBULON, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2026) – The Town of Zebulon has been recommended to receive $2,159,000 through the 2025-26 competitive funding process of the Raleigh and Wake County Hospitality Tax Fund to support Zebulon Community Park Phase 1, following approval by the Wake County Board of Commissioners.

Zebulon’s proposal was the highest-scoring new facility project reviewed by the Hospitality Fund evaluation panel. The funding will support construction of four multipurpose soccer fields, a playground, expanded parking, a walking path, and a second park entrance.

“This funding represents a major step forward for recreation in Zebulon,” said Sheila Long, Parks and Recreation director. “Zebulon Community Park will expand opportunities for residents while allowing us to host athletic events that bring families and visitors to our community.”

The total project budget for Phase 1 is $6.43 million. With the Wake County grant, the Town anticipates moving forward as planned using existing capital funds without allocating additional Town dollars at this time. Final construction costs will be refined during the design phase.

“This investment reflects the strength of our vision and partnerships,” said Mayor Jessica Harrison. “Zebulon Community Park will enhance quality of life while supporting economic activity and growth.”
