Trash & Recycling Collection
Town of Zebulon contracts with Waste Industries to collect residential and light commercial trash and recycling. The monthly fee of $24.00 includes one 96-gallon trash cart and one 96-gallon recycling cart. Residents are responsible for keeping their carts clean.
|Service||Current Rates||FY 2022 Proposed Garbage Rate|
|Recycle||$ 4.18||$ 4.18|
|City of Raleigh Billing Fee||$ 0.50||$ 0.84|
|Bulky Waste Collection||$ 5.13||$ 5.04|
|Yard-Waste Fee (New)||$ 0.00||$ 3.00|
Town ordinance requires trash be bagged before being placed in the cart to prevent flyaway litter as the cart is emptied into the truck. Please do not bag your recyclable items; they damage the sorting machines at the recycling facility. Recycling should be placed loosely in the cart.
Starting August 6, trash is collected on Fridays. Please place your cart at the curb on Thursday night. Recycling is collected bi-weekly. Refer to the Updated 2021 Solid Waste Calendar for trash, recycling, and bulk waste collection dates.
The following items should not be placed in the trash cart:
- yard waste
- construction debris
- automobile fluids
- fluorescent light bulbs
- lighter fluid/kerosene
The following items should not be placed in the recycling cart:
- Bubble wrap
- Packing peanuts
- Pizza boxes
- Plastic/Trash/Grocery bags
- Shredded paper
For questions or concerns about trash & recycling collection, including replacement of broken carts and cart delivery to a new residence, please call Public Works at 919-269-5285.
Bulk Waste Collection
Bulk waste collection is for items that can go in the landfill but are too large for the trash cart. This includes furniture, lawn mowers & grills (remove oil/gas), mattresses, carpet, and appliances. We cannot collect any items which cannot be placed in the landfill, including electronics, hazardous waste, paint, tires, and construction debris.
Town of Zebulon collects bulk waste every Friday, except on holidays. When possible, bulk waste will be collected on the last business day of the holiday week. Please place bulk waste at the curb on Thursday night.
Public Works collects yardwaste and leaves separately from solid waste. To dispose of other items, please visit wakegov.com/recycling for drop-off locations.
