Full-Time - This provides the opportunity to attend the Wake County Fire Academy as a full-time employee of the Town of Zebulon. Firefighter Trainees must adhere to strict rules on physical fitness, dress code and appearance while attending the Wake County Firefighter Academy. Upon completion of all Academy requirements, a Firefighter Trainee will become a certified Firefighter and EMT. Once certified, you will perform Firefighter/EMT and other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief.
Primary Duties:
- Provide service to the public with empathy, integrity and dedication
- Complete 38-week Wake County Training Academy
- Pass Firefighter and EMT certification exams
- Respond to emergency calls for service to protect public and private property
- Administer medical care at the EMT-B level
- Perform Fire Department equipment and station maintenance
During the academy, you will receive an estimated annual salary of $45,302 as a Firefighter Trainee.

Part-Time - The Town of Zebulon is seeking an energetic and creative person that wants to serve this community in an administrative role. The part-time Recreation Aide is the first point of contact at the Community Center, and therefore would need to possess amazing customer service skills. This position is an important part of the team that keeps things moving forward within the Parks Department. They will work on various projects, do research, participate in programs and have fun. The Parks & Recreation Department values the input and ideas from their employees and wants to help them grow in their careers. Recreation Aides assist Parks and Recreation staff with daily operations of the Zebulon Community Center, community outreach programs, athletic programs, special events and overseeing facility rentals. Recreation Aides are responsible for providing outstanding customer service when assisting the public using various communication methods. Staff will need to be familiar with the facility, various sports and standard operating procedures.
Hourly Rate: $10.00 - $15.00
